Philosophy:

The Digital Art, Design and Photography Programs are accelerated, in-depth courses of study intended to meet the individual needs of artistically talented and motivated students. The Digital Arts Program is intended to prepare students aesthetically, academically, and technically for further studies in the visual arts and to instill an appreciation for the arts in those who choose other careers.

Course Objectives:

• To encourage creative as well as systematic investigation of formal and conceptual issues.

• To emphasize making art as an on-going process that involves the student in informed and critical decision making.

• To help students develop technical skills and familiarize them with the functions of visual elements and principles.

• To develop and hone student’s skills in working with Adobe Creative Suite as they create solutions to a series of art & design problems

• To increase visual literacy through exposure to the elements and principles of design as well as contemporary design issues

• To expand student proficiency in all aspects of the design process, including the use of formal design principles, type as image, creative brainstorming, conceptualizing, critical thinking, collaboration, and presentation

• To develop the student’s concept of quality. The student’s ability to take action to close the gap between their level and ‘quality’ and the student’s motivation or personal power to achieve excellence.

• To encourage students to become independent thinkers who will contribute inventively and critically to their culture through the making of art.
